UK Beer Festival Calendar

From the website comes this handy list – a calendar of UK beer festivals of all sizes, more comprehensive (and user-friendly) than the one on CAMRAs site.

Worth a look if you’re festival-inclined.

Nord pas-de-Calais, brewing region of France

Here are the beers from the tasting at the October meeting – a selection of microbrews from northern France that although with definite influences from across the Belgian border, have a unique character of their own. Who said the French don’t make good beer?

From left to right:

Brasserie Au Baron – Saison Saint Médard
Amber Bière de Garde, 7% ABV

Brasserie d’Annoeullin – Lepers 8
Biere Blonde

Brasserie du Caou – Kaou’ët Brune
Biere Brune, 7% ABV

Brasserie du Caou – Kaou’ët Triple
Belgian Triple, 8.5% ABV

And a bottle of sweet farmhouse cider, just for good measure.

Next LAB meeting: GBBF social, Wed 4th August

GBBF logoA break from the usual format – the next LAB meeting is a group social at the Great British Beer Festival.

We’ll be the smart, good-looking ones hanging out by the ‘Real Ale in a Bottle’ stand all night (well, 6pm ->), come and say hi.

Another great online guide to London pubs

In addition to LAB’s “best of” pubs in London googlemap (link also at the top of the page), LAB member Stig has produced her own map of 200 of London’s real ale pubs, each with a mini review.

Its awesome, find it here.
