Tomorrow (that’s Sunday 9th January) LAB’s first official professional member launches his Black IPA at The Rake bar in London Bridge, 12-6pm.
Evin of the Kernel Brewery is a long-standing member and supporter of LAB, even though he doesn’t come under the ‘amateur’ category anymore we let him in as he’s jolly nice chap. And he makes fantastic beer.
There’ll be a few LAB members at the launch, come along, drink amazing IPA and say hi.
A good article on the resurgence of the UK Homebrew scene featuring The Kernel Brewery, SaintsAndSinners, Ben and Mark of LAB fame.

In addition to the excellent work being done by SaintAndSinners brewery on the Thames in S. London, Sharp’s of Cornwall have also stepped up to the plate and reached out to UK home-brewers with their ‘Big Lunch Beer’ competition.
More info on this blog or on the Big Lunch website but basically the gist of it is: the successful brewer will be invited to Sharp’s to work alongside the head brewer to produce a commercial version of their winning recipe which will then be sold in stores across the country. Sounds good.
This week sees the first of the capital’s beer festivals of 2010 in Battersea.
One of my favourite festivals, it comes just at the right time for those who’ve had an abstemious January.
